Just as surely as the nights draw in, Jubelale from Oregon’s Deschutes Brewery makes its appearance. The first beer ever bottled by Deschutes pours garnet red, a potpourri of spice and malt featuring seven different hops. The label features local Bend artist Tracy Leagjeld.

The last time the Craft Brewers Conference convened in Boston — in 1996 — it closed the  chapter on a very productive period of growth for the young craft brewing industry. That early growth was precarious, without solid foundation, and there followed a chapter of belt tightening and weeding out.

The Craft Brewers Conference has struck again like lightning and has fled. This year at the Boston World Trade Center April 22-24, the event was huge, with speeches and beer and awards and beer and seminars and beer and the BeerExpo tradeshow with even more beer.
